Save A Life Tour

FRIDAY – JUNE 17, 2011 According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Association, motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for 15 to 20 year-olds. Approximately 30 people in the United States die in a motor vehicle crash which involves an alcohol-impaired driver. This amounts to one death every 48 minutes.

The Save A Life Tour will be making its way to Lamar Institute of Technology on June 17, 2011, setting up a DWI simulator to promote general awareness among students and the community on the issues behind drinking and driving.

The multimedia program uses graphic video presentations, a drunken driving simulator, poster displays, and the experiences of the program’s facilitators to drive the message home “that drinking and driving kills.”

The National Save A Life Tour is sponsored by the East Texas Gulf Coast Regional Trauma Advisory Council, Lamar Institute of Technology, local EMS and Baptist Beaumont Hospital. The event is free and open to the public and will take place on June 17, 2011 at Lamar Institute of Technology at the Multipurpose Center (802 East Lavaca, Beaumont, TX 77705). The multimedia tour begins at 11:00 a.m. and closes at 7:00 p.m.
