Senior Services

The Senior Care Unit at Baptist Beaumont Hospital’s Behavioral Health Center assists senior adults and their families in understanding and learning to cope with problems related to the aging process.

Aging can present unique mental health needs and life challenges that older adults often find difficult to overcome. Our goal is to maintain and enhance the patient’s self respect during every phase of treatment and to enhance quality of life by helping adults maximize their ability to function independently.Senior Services

Our 20 bed inpatient unit – including an activity center, day room and courtyard – offers a homelike environment that allows our staff to focus on the individual psychiatric, medical, medication, dietary and social needs of patients.

Our experienced treatment team of professionals is led by a psychiatrist, who is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Geriatric Psychiatry. The Geriatric Psychiatrist is supported by a group of healthcare providers – nurses, social workers and technicians – who are highly trained in both psychiatric disorders and medical conditions. Medical doctors are available to assess any additional medical problems the patient may have. We are available around the clock to answer questions and help individuals, families, physicians and other agencies determine if there is a need for our services.

Our qualified professionals work closely with patients and families to help maintain the patient’s progress and ensure safety after discharge. The aftercare plan will include the most appropriate living arrangement for the patient after discharge. Whenever possible we assist the patient to return home, when this is not possible, an assisted living facility, nursing home, personal care home or home health service may be suggested. Our staff will assist the patient and family in making the necessary arrangements. We can be reached at (409) 212-7800 for inquiries and referrals 24 hours/7 days a week.
