Student Volunteer Program
High school and college volunteers are an important part of the lifeblood of Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas. Whether exploring a career in healthcare or fulfilling a desire to help others, the program offers opportunities to learn about hospital services and a professional environment. Assignment areas can include NICU, Mother/Baby, Pediatrics, ICU, Telemetry nursing units, Pharmacy, Cancer Center, Food Services, Inpatient Rehabilitation, Human Resources, and more.
Our high school volunteers
begin in the summer and must be at least 15 years old or advancing to their sophomore year in high school. Students are required to complete at least six of the eight week program and at least 24 hours of volunteer service. There are a variety of opportunities and experiences available but some assignments fill quickly. The link to the electronic application is available in early March and there are a limited number of spots available. After completing the summer program, a high school student has the option to continue volunteering during the school year. College Student Volunteers
are offered the flexibility to change their schedules and assignments with the changing school year. Summer applications are available in early March. Fall applications are available in August. Spring applications are available in December. We have opportunities to match a variety of different interests and fields of study.
